Belt tests

How a student moves up

A folded white uniform with a black belt on top on a wooden bench

The instructor decides

A student is ready for a test when the instructor sees the skills for the next color, in class, again and again.

  • No set number of weeks

  • Stripes mark the steps inside a color

  • Every student moves at their own pace

The day of a test

Students show their patterns, kicks and pad work to the instructors while families watch quietly from the bench. Phones stay on silent.

  • Families watch from the bench

  • Phones on silent, no flash

  • A new belt is tied on at the end

Start at white belt

Every student begins at white, whatever their age. Try a class and see where your child fits.
